David Bannister

Principal

David is the founder and principal at SIRA Group. He has twenty five years experience in the financial services industry, and is an expert in tax and superannuation strategies.

David has a Bachelor of Business majoring in Finance, a Graduate Diploma of Applied Finance and Investment and has completed specialist superannuation education.

He is a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australia (F Fin), an Associate of the Financial Planning Association (AFPA) and a Specialist Advisor member of the Self Managed Superannuation Professionals Association (SSA).

His career includes technical support, marketing, management and strategic advisory roles at various respected organisations including The Prudential Assurance Company, The Tower Group, Westpac Banking Corporation and First Samuel.

He has provided training and workshops via varying Registered Training Organisations (RTO) to many industry practitioners including administrators, advisers, accountants, auditors and solicitors and lectured at educational institutions.

Chief Investment Officer

Nigel is our Chief Investment Officer at SIRA Group and has been in the financial markets for over thirty years. He has a BA (Hons) in Economics and has specialist education in forecasting techniques and investment management from the London Business School and Princeton University in the USA.

Nigel’s initial experience was with South Africa’s largest life assurance company where he finished as chief economist. After five years managing economics and strategy, he broadened his experience and moved to the equity side of the business. He built on his skills here while working as the small companies analyst, equity analyst and discretionary portfolio manager.

Nigel then moved to the UK where he worked for stockbrokers Sheppards and Chase, and as global strategist for Norwich Union. Since coming to Australia he has worked for stockbrokers ANZ McCaughan and Potter Warburg/UBS and for fund managers National Mutual/Axa and First Samuel.
